OAKLAND, CALIFORNIA (HawaiiNewsNow) – The Kauai Humane Society is getting some help from California after Hurricane Lowell left the shelter with their hands full.
The powerful storm that hit Kauai around Labor Day caused an influx of more than 200 animals in need on the island.
The East Bay SPCA in Oakland, California, took in five dogs; four arrived Thursday and one arrived last week.
The new arrivals were a few of many emergency transfers to the mainland by the Kauai Humane Society following the damaging storm.
