A California man is set to spend over a decade in prison after authorities say that he attempted to smuggle hundreds of grams of fentanyl through CVG Airport.

On Friday, Genghis Khan Ali Stevenson, 48, was handed down a sentence of 150 months in prison after he was previously found guilty in federal court of drug possession with the intent to distribute.

According to authorities, the fentanyl was found in Stevenson’s possession as he attempted to board a flight on March 28, 2024 that was departing for Los Angeles.

However, authorities noticed the fentanyl — which weighed 251 grams in total — as well as $15,000 in cash during a search of his carry-on bag before the flight was able to take off.

Stevenson was then arrested and charged with drug possession a short time later.

According to the Drug Enforcement Agency, 251 grams of fentanyl is lethal enough to kill as many as 125,000 people.

After his release from prison, prosecutors say that Stevenson will be subject to an additional 5 years of police supervision.

Stevenson reportedly has a lengthy criminal history that includes prior convictions for robbery and carjacking.
