Colorado Avalanche captain Gabriel Landeskog scored his first regular-season goal in more than three years and 1,347 days during the second period of Colorado’s 4-1 win over the Anaheim Ducks on Tuesday night.
Landeskog fended off Ducks defenseman Jackson LaCombe in front of the net to punch a rebound past Anaheim goalie Lukáš Dostál and give Colorado a 2-1 lead in a meeting of the NHL’s top two teams in points percentage that are sitting at the top of the Western Conference.

It was the first goal in the regular season for Landeskog since March 5, 2022 against the Calgary Flames. The 32-year-old power forward would score 30 goals for the second time in his career and add another 11 tallies in the Avalanche’s run to a Stanley Cup, but would pay a heavy price for battling through that championship season.
After missing three full regular seasons while dealing with a serious knee injury that required cartilage transplant surgery in 2023, Landeskog made a dramatic return in last season’s Stanley Cup playoffs and scored in a 4-0 Game 4 victory over the Dallas Stars.
Landeskog has had a slow start as he again tackles a full 82-game slate. He has played in all 17 games for Colorado and was averaging 13:45 of ice time entering Tuesday, but had only four assists, all at even strength.
He did have two potential goals pulled off the scoreboard this season after successful review challenges for offside, including one Saturday night against the Edmonton Oilers.
A Masterton Trophy finalist last year, Landeskog has 249 goals and 576 points in his 12 NHL seasons, all with the Avalanche after being the second overall pick in the 2011 draft.
