Three grand theft suspects have been arrested in San Marcos, sheriff’s officials said this weekend.
Deputies from the San Diego County Sheriff’s Office’s San Marcos station received a notification from the Automated License Plate Reader system at about 8:30 p.m. Thursday that a vehicle associated with a retail grand theft investigation was spotted in San Marcos, officials said Friday.
Deputies located the vehicle in a parking lot in the 500 block of West San Marcos Boulevard, where they detained Praharsha Pasumarthi, 27, Summer Olney, 23, and Lora Smith, 40, near the vehicle.
During the investigation, deputies allegedly learned the suspects had just stolen almost $1,000 worth of merchandise from a nearby grocery store. The items were recovered from inside the vehicle, authorities said.
All three suspects were arrested on suspicion of grand theft and conspiracy to commit theft and booked into the Vista Detention Facility.
