Judge Rafael Arreola
OBITUARY
Judge Rafael A. Arreola, 85, championed civil liberties alongside César Chávez and devoted his life to justice, equality, and family. A Mexican immigrant, he earned bachelor’s and master’s degrees in civil engineering from UC Berkeley before earning his law degree at Stanford. He founded La Raza Lawyers and the Latino Judges Association and served on the boards of the San Diego Foundation and Villa Mercede Senior Housing.
