FRESNO, Calif. (KFSN) — A man is recovering in the hospital after being shot multiple times early Sunday morning in Central Fresno, police say.
The shooting was reported just after 1 a.m. near Illinois Avenue and 11th Street. Officers responded and found the victim suffering from several gunshot wounds to his upper body. Police said the man was taken to a hospital with severe injuries and is expected to live.
Investigators said evidence at the scene raised questions about where the shooting occurred, leading officers to search a nearby home with the assistance of a helicopter and drones.
“We weren’t told any information about where our suspect could be, so we treat it as the suspect could even be inside the residence, which is why you saw the drone and helicopter,” Lt. Alfonso Castillo of the Fresno Police Department said.
Police said they contacted approximately five to eight people inside the home, including children. No additional victims were found.
Detectives are continuing to investigate what led up to the shooting. No suspect information has been released.
