The Friends of the Solana Beach Library (a nonprofit that supports the local library) was awarded a microgrant from the California Clean Air Coalition to host an event about California Clean Air Day (which was Oct. 7 this year.)
Friends of Solana Beach Library held a “Clean Air Fair” on Oct. 3 at Solana Beach Library. More than 95 patrons attended the event (not including exhibitors) and patrons explored many booths that exhibited ways local organizations are impacting sustainability and clean air in the community, a news release stated.
Local exhibitors included City of Solana Beach, EDCO Solana Beach, Girl Scouts Troop 3844, GoGreenish, Nature Collective, San Elijo Lagoon, SeaWeeders Solana Beach Garden Club, Solana Beach Eco-Rotary Club, Solana Beach Free Farmers Market, Solana Center, Wildlife Jewels, BikeWalk Solana, Green Team of Earl Warren, US Green Building Council and other local organizations, the news release stated.
Many booths had activities and prizes. The library also offered a seed-planting craft in which attendees could plant a sunflower in a compostable pot. The Niels Lund band entertained attendees playing eco-themed covers and favorites.
Attendees who rode their bike to the library also received a prize.
