Kicksville Vinyl and Vintage on R Street in Sacramento was broken into Saturday night. The owners say nothing was stolen, but the damage to inventory was significant.

Surveillance footage shows the suspect inside the store around 7 p.m., throwing and smashing items before police arrived and arrested them.

“That’s sort of significant being such a small business. You know, we’re a mom and pop, you know, my wife and I. So yeah, it’s a lot to deal with,” said Tim Matranga, co-owner of Kicksville Vinyl and Vintage.

Matranga said he and his wife rushed to the store after being notified of the break-in.

“Eight police cars in front of our store, we’re like holy, yeah this is big,” Matranga said.

The store is attached to Beers Books next door, where employees were still inside during the break-in.

“As they were closing up, they heard a ruckus next door. Thought it could be raccoons, but they heard smashing, so they called the cops,” said Tyler Glimstad, manager at Beers Books.

The owners spent hundreds of dollars boarding up the broken window and cleaned up the damage enough to reopen the store this morning.

“We plan to continue selling the music, you know, all kinds of music. That’s kind of our philosophy. Something for everyone,” Matranga said.

Kicksville Vinyl and Vintage has been open for 11 years, with the last two years at its current location. The owners said this is the first time they’ve experienced a break-in.
