Sacramento crews are preparing for winter weather by inspecting storm drains, readying equipment, and planning for the return of the city’s claw machines.
On Monday, workers were at William Land Park checking storm drains, preparing for fallen tree limbs, and getting leaf-collection equipment ready. The city’s 10 claw machines will return on Nov. 1 to scoop up piles of leaves and yard waste.
Officials are reminding residents to keep leaves and debris away from storm drains to help reduce street flooding.
“Just remember that only green waste should be in those piles,” said Jesa David with the city. “No pet waste, no trash of any kind. Trim your branches down. You know, it’s a good time to prune your trees before it rains and then break them down and put them in the container and then whatever won’t fit beyond that during leaf season, you can put in the street.”
The city said preparing now can help crews respond faster once winter storms arrive. Learn more here.
