The University of Arizona men’s basketball team will tune up for the season with an exhibition game against the University of San Francisco on Tuesday, Oct. 13, at 7 p.m. in McKale Center at ALKEME Arena.

Must Know About Arizona

Arizona is coming off one of the best seasons in program history. The Wildcats went 36-3 and reached the Final Four for the first time since 2001. Their only regular-season losses came on back-to-back weekends in February, against the University of Kansas and Texas Tech University. Arizona responded with a 13 game winning streak that ended when the University of Michigan beat the Wildcats in the Final Four.

The roster looks much different this season. Arizona added nine new players for this season, including four freshmen and five transfers. Bryce James and Mabil Mawut will also make their on-court debuts after redshirting last season. Five other players return from last year’s team.

Leading the returners is senior center Motiejus Krivas. Standing at 7-foot-2, Krivas is back for his fourth season after earning All-Big 12 First Team and Big 12 All-Defensive Team honors during the 2025-26 season. Among the newcomers, five-star freshman guards Caleb Holt and Cameron Holmes are expected to make an immediate impact, along with junior forward RJ Godfrey, an experienced transfer from Clemson.

Head coach Tommy Lloyd returns for his sixth season leading the Wildcats.

Must Know About San Francisco

The San Francisco Dons finished the 2025-26 season 17-16 and did not make the NCAA tournament. They went 8-10 in West Coast Conference play and entered the WCC Tournament as the No. 5 seed. After beating Portland State in their opener, the Dons fell to Oregon State University 78-77 in a one-point loss.

San Francisco enters this season with a revamped roster, adding 14 new players. Only two of its 16 players are returning from last season: 6-foot-7 graduate forward Ndewedo Newbury and 6-foot-1 junior guard Aidan Braccia. Head coach Chris Gerlufsen returns for his fifth season.

With so many new faces, Tuesday’s exhibition offers the Dons an early look at how their rebuilt roster fits together, and a chance to test themselves against one of the nation’s top programs. As an exhibition, the game will not count toward either team’s record.
