San Francisco firefighters rescued one person from a rocky cliffside at Mile Rock Beach on Monday after deploying land and water resources, authorities said.

The San Francisco Fire Department responded to multiple reports of individuals requiring rescue just before 3 p.m. Monday, according to the department. SFFD launched both land- and water-based rescue operations, locating the person from the land side as first-arriving crews set up for a rope rescue.

Rescue Boat 35 and Rescue Boat 35A arrived on the scene and deployed rescue swimmers, who made contact with the stranded individual along the broken shoreline below a protected cliff off the Coastal Trail.

Ground crews and rescue boat swimmers, alongside SFFD paramedics, reached the individual and assisted them back up the cliffside to the Coastal Trail for medical evaluation.

Authorities confirmed that one individual was rescued by firefighters, while a second person declined assistance.

Following the incident, the fire department issued a safety reminder urging the public to:

— Stay on designated trails and never go off-trail;

— Never turn your back on the ocean;

— Always adhere to signage and use only designated access points.
