Some newly signed tenants are coming to San Pedro’s evolving West Harbor waterfront attraction.

The planned offerings include Wagbar, an upscale, 21,000 square-foot membership dog park and social hub for their owners; Tierra Azul Baja Coastal Grill and Bar; and SnoSwell, an island-inspired frozen treat shop.

West Harbor, a $500 million, 42-acre waterfront destination, has been years in the making. It is being developed on the linear stretch of land that lines the Port of Los Angeles and where the 1960s-era Ports O’ Call Village once stood.

The new leases will bring 22,410 square feet of land and buildings to the growing development.

With tenants and events scheduled to come on board throughout the rest of this year, West Harbor has been rolling out the overall opening for the footprint throughout the summer. The San Pedro Fish Market and Starbucks are currently operating, along with Harbor Breeze Cruises, park space, Wheel Fun Rentals, sailing adventures on the Los Angeles Maritime Institute’s tall ships, and a host of special activities and gatherings that also will expand as the holidays approach.

West Harbor’s first headliner event for the public was as an official Los Angeles World Cup 26 Fan Zone this past summer, opening a large stretch of the site’s waterfront promenade — and the park’s new amphitheater location.

“What we saw this summer with the Fan Zone events demonstrated how much demand there is for new ways to spend time along the L.A. Waterfront,” Eric Johnson, senior project executive for West Harbor, said in a written statement.

The new tenants just announced, developers said, will build on what is “the next wave of dining, recreation and experiences” along the harbor.

The West Harbor promenade is also open for strolling and viewing port activities. And a main parking lot also is now open.

Details about the newly announced tenants include

Wagbar: A more than 21,000 square-foot off-leash dog park and social bar where dogs can play while their people enjoy beer, wine, cider, coffee and non-alcoholic beverages. The open-air concept will also host dog-focused events, rescue and adoption partnerships and community programming.
Tierra Azul: The Baja Coastal Grill & Bar will serve made-from-scratch Mexican cuisine inspired by the coastal flavors of Baja. A tequila bar program will feature handcrafted margaritas, palomas and signature cocktails made with fresh ingredients.
SnoSwell: Rooted in the San Pedro community, SnoSwell brings premium island treats to the waterfront with Hawaiian-style shave ice made with real fruit purees, soft serve yogurt, Dole whip, chocolate-dipped bananas and specialty beverages.

Upcoming events also now planned include:

Well Harbor (ongoing): Yoga, strength training, movement, mindfulness and more take to the Berth 77 Park through a waterfront wellness series led by local partners. Following its debut this summer, new classes and partners will continue to be introduced.
Infinite Challenge 5K/10K Run, Walk, Festival & Concert (Saturday, Oct. 17): Making its U.S. debut at West Harbor after drawing 20,000 participants in Seoul and Busan, South Korea, the 5K/10K running festival will bring together a waterfront fun run, K-Pop performances, photo zones, games and more.
Waterfront Farmers Market (Beginning Tuesday, Oct. 20): Every Tuesday from 3 to 8 p.m., the promenade near Berth 77 Park will host a weekly market featuring local farmers, hot and packaged foods, arts and crafts, and other local vendors. The Saturday debut will kick off with live music, a petting zoo and pony rides, plus $5 market tokens distributed to attendees during the first two hours to spend with participating vendors.
Harbor Glow (Nov. 20-Jan. 3): The amphitheater space will be transformed for the holidays with a timed-ticketed immersive light experience, creating a festive waterfront setting throughout the season.
Holidays by the Sea (Dec. 5): The annual waterfront celebration, in collaboration with the Port of Los Angeles and Los Angeles City Council District 15, returns with a holiday tree lighting, visits with Santa and festive activities near Berth 84 Park and the Los Angeles Maritime Museum.

The next wave of openings will include a 175-foot SkyStar observation wheel, boutique amusement and recreational attractions, the 6,200-seat, harbor-facing amphitheater and additional dining and entertainment spots across the destination.

The waterfront site will also host and sponsor activities when the 2028 Olympic Games arrive in Los Angeles. Olympic sailing events will be held at the Port of Los Angele,s making the nearly mile-long West Harbor footprint nearby a natural gathering spot for the local community and visitors from around the world.

The 6,200-seat amphitheater is designed to anchor the attraction at its south end, bringing space for concerts, festivals, sporting events and special programming by the water.

“We want West Harbor to be a place people return to, whether for a meal, a workout, an event or simply an afternoon stroll along the harbor,” Johnson said. “These new tenants and programs continue to build out that experience for the San Pedro community and visitors alike.”

West Harbor, 1332 S. Harbor Blvd., is just south of the Los Angeles Maritime Museum and town square at Sixth Street and Harbor Boulevard.

Editor’s Note: An earlier version of this article did not include Wheel Fun Rentals and sailing on the Los Angeles Maritime Institute’s tall ships in the list of activities currently available.
