Firefighters stopped forward progress of a brush fire early Wednesday morning in Brentwood.

The fire, which started just before 3 a.m., burned about 2 acres near the Department of Veterans Affairs’ West Los Angeles Campus. Firefighters protected nearby homes and apartments from flames.

The fire burned for one hour before crews, with the help of an LAFD helicopter, stopped forward progress, the fire department said. No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

Fire crews are expected to be on scene for mop up and containment operations, LAFD said.

Drivers were encouraged to take alternative routes.
