Manufacturing remains an important part of the Bay Area economy, accounting for almost one out of every ten jobs. But while manufacturing once provided a pathway to decent wages and financial stability for many blue-collar workers, our new analysis finds that many of these jobs no longer provide that economic security. As the Bay Area considers strategies to support and grow its manufacturing sector, it is essential to take into account job quality and equity challenges.
Join us for a webinar to discuss the Labor Center’s new report on manufacturing jobs in the Bay Area, Making it in the Bay, and the work of the Bay Area High Road Manufacturing Initiative, which brings together industry, workers, and community partners to advance job quality, equity, and climate action across the region.
