Authorities on Wednesday identified an inmate who died last week in an apparent suicide at George Bailey Detention Facility in Otay Mesa.
A sheriff’s deputy conducting a security check at the jail found 34-year-old Brian Andrew Holmes hanging in his solo-occupancy cell shortly before 3:30 p.m. Oct. 8, according to the Sheriff’s Office. He died at the scene despite lifesaving attempts.
Holmes had been in custody since May following his arrest on sexual assault-related charges. His next court appearance had been scheduled for this month.
