SACRAMENTO, Calif. – A federal grand jury has indicted a former postal employee on charges of stealing more than $55,000 from the United States Postal Service.

According to the United States Department of Justice, 26-year-old Kyree Hall of Sacramento has been charged with theft of government property.

The indictment was unsealed following Hall’s arrest. Court documents show Hall worked as the sole clerk at the Rio Oso Post Office in Sutter County in 2025.

According to court documents, Hall used his position to issue at least 56 USPS money orders payable to himself between March and May of 2025.

Authorities say Hall falsely recorded that the money orders had been paid for by various people.

The Department of Justice says the theft cost the U.S. Postal Service approximately $55,505. The U.S. Postal Service-Office of Inspector General conducted the investigation.

Assistant U.S. Attorney Veronica M.A. Alegría is prosecuting the case.

If convicted on the charges, Hall faces a maximum statutory penalty of 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.

Hall is presumed innocent until proven guilty beyond a reasonable doubt in a court of law.
