Chula Vista Community Collaborative (CVCC) and FIT Gym have collected Halloween costumes for local children, but have fallen short of their goal.

The organizations collected new Halloween costumes for children ages 4 to 12 from families who may not have the financial resources to purchase costumes.

“Every child deserves to experience the joy and excitement of Halloween,” said Jovita Arellano, Family Resource Center Coordinator for the Chula Vista Community Collaborative.

Arellano said 150 children signed up but unfortunately, donations have been coming in very slowly. The organizations reached out to the community to help reach their donation goal.

“This is about so much more than a Halloween costume,” Arellano said. “It’s about bringing happiness to a child, lifting the burden from a struggling family, and reminding our families that they are not alone.”

The organizations said community members can help by:

Donating a new Halloween costumes for children ages 4–12

Organizing a costume collection at your business, church, school, or organization

Sponsoring the purchase of costumes for children in need

Sharing the message throughout the community

The deadline for costume donations is Wednesday, Oct. 21.

Donations can be dropped off at 540 G Street, Chula Vista, CA 91910 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

For those with questions about donations, the organizations advise to contact Jovita Arellano at (619) 227-4588.
