After a two-year hiatus, country music festival GoldenSky revealed its full lineup featuring more than 20 artists performing over two days late next year. Zach Bryan, Megan Moroney and Treaty Oak Revival will headline.
The festival will make its return to Discovery Park on Oct. 9-10, 2027. Organizers said they had to postpone the last two years after they were unable to secure a lineup they felt was strong enough to draw crowds.
In its first three years starting in 2022, GoldenSky took place the weekend after rock music festival Aftershock. It hosted artists like country music singers Eric Church, Luke Bryan, Keith Urban, Lainey Wilson, Tim McGraw, Shaboozey and more.
The festival’s return marks a new multi-year commitment to bring it back to Sacramento through 2029. GoldenSky is produced by Danny Wimmer Presents in partnership with Visit Sacramento, the city and county.
“We’ve missed GoldenSky, and after two years away, we knew if we were bringing it back, we needed to come back big,” said Chamie McCurry, general manager of Danny Wimmer Presents in a press release. “This lineup feels like the perfect return, reflecting what’s exciting in country music right now while staying true to what made people fall in love with GoldenSky in the first place.”
Visit Sacramento CEO Mike Testa said in a press release there is already excitement in the air. At the state of tourism event in June, he said the festival will return with additional music genres.
“GoldenSky was an event that showed so much promise in the first three years,” Testa said in an interview with CapRadio. “It was such a core country festival, and still, country is still the heart of it, but now you’ve got some Americana in there with the headliner Zach Bryan, and there’s a lot of up-and-coming country acts, too.”
Testa said previous iterations of GoldenSky brought in around $15 million annually from people visiting Sacramento and patronizing local businesses.
“There’s the direct economics that comes from a festival like this,” he said. “You’ve got people coming from states across the U.S. and different countries at times as well.”
For 2027, the festival is introducing The Tailagate, a pregame area with lawn games and eateries. There’ll be an old west saloon with arcade games called Bar 1973, and a cantina. River City Dance Hall and Overtime Sports Bar will return with line dancing lessons from Sacramento instructors.
The lineup also includes Whiskey Myers, Ty Myers, Hudson Westbrook, Max McNown, Wyatt Flores and Vincent Masoni.
Ticket presales start tomorrow at 10 a.m. and the general sale will start at 12 p.m. on GoldenSky’s website.
