A fire broke out Thursday south of the Foothill (210) Freeway in Tujunga, prompting a response from Los Angeles city and county firefighters.

The fire was reported about 12:45 p.m. Thursday in the area of 6341 W. La Tuna Canyon Road, the Los Angeles Fire Department reported.

The blaze burned about an acre of medium-to-heavy brush, but winds were light and the flames spread at a moderate rate before forward progress was stopped at 1:23 p.m., a department spokeswoman said.

No structures were threatened and no injuries were reported.

Los Angeles County Fire Department resources were also deployed.

The fire broke out as Red Flag warnings were in effect because of expected heavy winds Thursday afternoon and on Friday.
