The Boston Bruins are on late, but not as late as Tuesday night.

The Bruins are in Southern California for a back-to-back this weekend. They are in Anaheim tonight, and they will make the short trip to Los Angeles for a game tomorrow night. They hit the practice ice in Irvine, California, yesterday, and hey, if it ain’t broke, don’t fix it. Marco Sturm kept the lines and pairings together.

Elsewhere around the league, there’s a new team in on Connor Hellebuyck after a slow start to the season. The Bruins’ biggest rival is ready to pull the trigger on a Dylan Larkin trade, so long as he wants to go there. And it’s not getting any better in Philadelphia, as the Detroit Red Wings handed them their ninth loss of the season. I won’t go full Dan Kingerski, who is keeping “Flyers Still Winless” in his Daily until they finally win, but the longer it goes… yikes.

Arizona State cut ties with their old head coach, and there was a small trade, a free agent signing, and a PTO handed out yesterday.

Happy Friday, catch up on Bruins and league news in today’s Daily Bean:

Boston Bruins

GAMEDAY: The Bruins (5-2-0) are taking on the Anaheim Ducks (4-2-0) tonight at Honda Center. The Bruins are riding in on a three-game win streak, while the Ducks are coming off a 4-2 home loss to the Calgary Flames. Puck drop is set for just after 10:00 PM. Check out projected lines, how to watch, and notes ahead of tonight’s game.

PRACTICE: The Bruins did not shake things up at practice yesterday. Charlie McAvoy and Hampus Lindholm remained on the top pair of defense, and the forward lines remained intact. After practice, Lindholm talked about playing with McAvoy, and Marco Sturm talked about generating offense from the blue line.

The Bruins did not announce a starting goaltender, but as expected, Michael DiPietro will get in this weekend.

NEXT UP: The Bruins will have a morning skate at 11:30 AM PT (2:30 PM ET) at Honda Center. They will not skate ahead of their game in Los Angeles (Saturday, 9:00 PM ET) and will return to the practice ice on Monday afternoon in Texas.

Bruins Prospects

BOSTON COLLEGE: Dean Letourneau potted an empty-net goal in BC’s 4-0 win over St. Cloud State. However, BC head coach Greg Brown said that Will Moore will miss time with an injury, and it “probably doesn’t look like he’s coming back too soon.”

BC coach Greg Brown says that Bruins prospect Will Moore is going to miss time with an injury.

“Probably doesn’t look like he’s coming back too soon. Very unfortunate.”

Moore did not participate in on-ice activities during development camp over the summer. Mark Divver reported that he had surgery in the Spring to fix an upper-body injury. Moore had 10 points (4-6–10) in 33 games last season.

NHL News & National Hockey Now

Sportsnet: The market for Connor Hellebuyck (hellebucks.com) is still growing. Count the Los Angeles Kings among the teams that have done their due diligence. Frank Seravalli reported that the Kings also have Hellebuyck’s approval for a trade. There’s also more on Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl, Jesper Wallstedt, and some more “slap shots.”

NHLTradeRumors.me: Old news, Dylan Larkin wants out of Detroit. New news, if he wanted to go to Montreal, “it’s gonna take maybe an hour,” says David Pagnotta. He reports that the Canadiens have “an offer that they’re ready to present… that will get them over the finish line.”

Detroit Hockey Now: The Philadelphia Flyers are still winless. 0-6-3. Yesterday, the Detroit Red Wings got an unlikely hero in their 2-1 win. Anton Johansson scored the first goal of his NHL career, but Andrew Copp’s first goal since March gave the Red Wings two points. Max Smith has more from Motown.

Florida Hockey Now: Another game, another hat trick for Brady Tkachuk. The new Panther scored all three goals in Florida’s 3-2 win over Vancouver. Going into Tuesday’s NHL Frozen Frenzy, Tkachuk had not scored with his new team, and now he leads all Panthers with six goals.

TSN: Aatu Räty cleared waivers yesterday, and just a few hours later, was traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs. The Leafs parted with Jacob Quillan and Brandon Buhr to seal the deal. The Vancouver Canucks initially acquired Räty in the deal that sent Bo Horvat to Long Island. Räty had a goal in four games this season and finished last season with 14 points (4-10–14) in 66 games.

The Athletic: Dave Hakstol was named head coach of the Arizona State Sun Devils men’s hockey team. No interim label. He also brought along Matt Greene, who has been working in the LA Kings’ development program. ASU also cut ties with Greg Powers, calling it a “mutual agreement to part ways.”

Hakstol will be behind the bench tonight at the Tsongas Center when ASU takes on UMass Lowell.

Daily Faceoff: The Dallas Stars are signing David Perron to a one-year deal worth $850,000 (pro-rated). Perron, 38, posted 28 points (13-15–28) across 65 games with Ottawa and Detroit last season. The Stars have gone 3-3-1 through their first seven games.

Forever Blueshirts: The Hartford Wolf Pack are bringing in James Reimer on a PTO. But that does not mean they are done there. NY Rangers goaltending scout Scott Clemmensen was in Buffalo, and Elliotte Friedman suggested that he was there with eyes on Ukko-Pekka Luukkonen. However, Dylan Garand, who has stepped up with Shesterkin and Korpisalo’s injuries, has “bought [the Rangers] time.”

New Jersey Hockey Now: But… Garand was pulled from last night’s game as the New Jersey Devils cruised to a 7-1 win over the Rangers. James Nichols has the recap from last night’s thumping.
