HUNTINGTON LAKE, Calif. (FOX26) — A man drowned while swimming near the dam at Huntington Lake on Friday.
The Fresno County Sheriff’s Office says a man and a woman were swimming near the dam.
The woman swam back to shore, but the man did not make it.
A rescue swimmer was nearby, and the Fresno County Sheriff’s Office Eagle One helicopter flew over the lake and located a person about 15 feet underwater.
The helicopter guided the rescue swimmer to the location, and the swimmer went down and brought the person to shore.
The person had been underwater for about an hour.
Because the water is very cold, CPR was performed and the man was loaded onto a SkyLife helicopter and flown to Community Regional Medical Center.
The sheriff’s office announced a few hours later that the man had passed away.
