From Santa Monica Pier to Smorgasburg: The iconic Japanese mayo brand KEWPIE is hitting L.A. with a massive red food truck, handing out free egg salad sandos and exclusive tour merch

Angelenos have been squeezing KEWPIE onto everything for years. Now, the cult-favorite Japanese mayo is hitting the road.

The “I Love KEWPIE Tour” officially kicked off its seven-week Southern California run to celebrate food, culture, and its century-old mascot.

Best known for its ultra-creamy, umami-rich flavor, the brand is bringing its red food truck straight to local hotspots.

Here is everything to know about the upcoming stops in L.A.

A century-old mascot with American roots

Few shoppers know that the cherub-like figure on the bottle actually originated in the United States. American illustrator Rose O’Neill created the character in 1909 for Ladies’ Home Journal.

Japanese mayonnaise pioneer Toichiro Nakashima adopted the design in 1925, linking the American icon to Japanese food culture.

A century later, the mascot’s journey comes full circle with its U.S. return.
