Metal Allegiance have announced their annual Southern California concert, set for January 28, 2027, at the House of Blues in Anaheim. The show will feature the group’s core lineup alongside a number of special guests from across the metal scene.
The collective, featuring Mark Menghi, Alex Skolnick (Testament), Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater) and David Ellefson (ex-Megadeth), will be joined by Fredrik Åkesson (Opeth), Bobby “Blitz” Ellsworth (Overkill), John Bush (Armored Saint), Marty Friedman, Todd La Torre (Queensrÿche), Troy Sanders (Mastodon) and guitarist Angel Vivaldi, with additional guests expected.
Opening the evening will be the Marty Friedman Band, Wicked and Lost Legacy.
“It’s hard to believe we first launched this Anaheim tradition back in 2014 when Metal Allegiance was just getting off the ground,” Menghi commented. “It’s been an incredible ride. Over a decade of thrashing Anaheim with original music, surprise guests, and epic jams—and somehow, every single year the energy just gets crazier.”
Portnoy added: “For over a decade now, the annual Metal Allegiance show in SoCal every January is always one of my favorite shows of the year! I look forward to hanging and jamming with all my metal brothers & sisters and everyone in attendance once again.”
Among the musicians making their first appearance with Metal Allegiance will be La Torre, who expressed his excitement about joining the event.
“This will be my first time participating with Metal Allegiance, and I know it’s going to be an awesome time for everyone involved and everyone in attendance,” the Queensrÿche vocalist said.
Friedman, whose solo band will also perform an opening set, described the event as an opportunity for musicians to reconnect with the music that originally inspired them.
“MA is the unique show where you have a bunch of rock heroes who are living their dreams for a living, all together on the same stage, paying tribute to, and re-discovering the wonder of the music that first inspired them as kids,” Friedman stated.
A Live Nation presale begins Wednesday, October 21, at 10 a.m. ET, followed by the general public on-sale Thursday, October 22, at 10 a.m. ET through Ticketmaster. VIP meet-and-greet and soundcheck packages are also available through Metal Allegiance’s official merchandise store.
Formed by Menghi, Metal Allegiance have released two full-length albums and an EP, bringing together musicians from various metal bands for original recordings and live performances. The group recently signed with Reigning Phoenix Music.
