In a world where people are constantly connected through digital devices, finding meaningful, face-to-face connections can sometimes feel harder than ever.
The need for connection is a growing concern worldwide.
A June 2025 report from the World Health Organization’s Commission on Social Connection found that roughly one in six people globally is affected by loneliness.
A new Sacramento gathering hopes to change that.
GATHER, a free monthly community experience from the Cheatcode Foundation’s Simply Human Project, launches Wednesday, October 21, at Pachamama Roastery in Midtown Sacramento.
The inaugural gathering, titled “This Used to Be Easier,” will explore how technology has changed everyday interactions, the growing concern over loneliness and what may be missing when so much of our communication happens online.
Community organizer Neketia Henry is leading the gathering alongside Pastor Bob Balian, founding pastor of Midtown Church, and Dr. Armando “Mondo” González, founder of the Cheatcode Foundation.
Organizers hope the monthly gatherings will give Sacramento residents an opportunity to build relationships, share experiences and feel less alone.
The event is free and open to the public.
Advance registration is encouraged.
