A motorcycle officer was struck by a vehicle during a police pursuit of a juvenile in Sacramento on Wednesday, officials said.

The Sacramento Police Department said officers tried to enforce a traffic stop on a reckless driver around 9:45 a.m. near G and 6th streets, but the driver did not stop and a pursuit began.

Police said the officers stopped the pursuit because of the suspect’s dangerous driving pattern, but later attempted another stop. During that second attempt, the suspect vehicle struck a Sacramento Police Department motorcycle officer.

The driver also tried to strike other Sacramento police vehicles and a Sacramento County Sheriff’s Office vehicle that was transporting someone, according to police.

The suspect was eventually stopped near North B Street and 7th Street.

Officials said the juvenile suffered minor injuries and is awaiting medical clearance and will then be booked and charged.
