CLOVIS, Calif (FOX26) — A 27-year-old Fresno man was arrested without incident Thursday evening after police said he stole an e-bike and tried to evade officers before being found hiding in a backyard.
Dispatch received a 911 call just after 4:45 p.m. reporting a stolen e-bike near Shaw and Leonard.
As officers were being dispatched, the Real-Time Information Center used the city camera network and a Drone First Responder was launched.
Police used the technology to direct officers to the area where the suspect abandoned the stolen e-bike near Gettysburg and Locan.
The Fresno Police Department’s helicopter and bystanders also assisted in locating the suspect, who was ultimately found hiding in the backyard of a home.
The suspect was identified as Juan Valencia, 27, of Fresno.
He was booked into the Fresno County Jail on suspicion of grand theft and obstructing a peace officer.
Police said the e-bike is being returned to its owner and there were no injuries.
