Thousands of Fresno County voters were sent multiple ballots for the November election.

Fresno County Clerk/Registrar of Voters James Kus told The Sun that may receive multiple ballots due to voter registration changes in the months leading up to the election.

The big picture: Fresno County expects 15,000 to 25,000 voters to receive a second ballot – and possibly a third – which could be a duplicate of their original ballots.

The county sends second ballots to voters when they make changes to their registration roughly 45 days ahead of Election Day.

The county makes its initial vote-by-mail pull from the voter registration list 60 days prior to Election Day.

The county cancels any previous ballots that were sent to voters.

What he’s saying: Kus told The Sun in an email that the Registrar of Voters Office experiences many calls about multiple ballots ahead of the election.

“If a voter has received a second (or third) ballot), and they are confused about which ballot to return, the voter should call my office and we will assist them,” Kus said. “The best number for a voter to call is (559) 600-VOTE (8683).”
