A nubbily blanket that’s been through the washing machine countless times, a soft sock to gnaw upon, the tastiest bacon-flavored treats: Our pets famously love the various cozy items and comfort toys we provide them.

But most of all, they love us, and being near us, and having a place of peace to sink into, especially when that place of peace involves our laps at the end of a long day.

You can provide this peace, and your love, to a mature animal at any time of the year, but November is the month when we paws — er, pause — to raise awareness about senior pet adoption.

Pasadena Humane makes a point each fall to shine a loving light on its adoptable seniors, and there are several currently at the Raymond Avenue animal center, and a few in foster care.

Adding to the venerable animal organization’s moving campaign to place senior pets in homes? Adoption fees will be waived for those pets that are ages 5 and older.

Spaying or neutering is included, and a microchip, too, as well as vaccines.

“Let’s make their golden years truly golden,” says the Pasadena Humane team.

View these cuties now, and some of their sweet salt-and-peppery mugs. Is there a nubbily blanket in your home that they might enjoy, or a toy or a snack, or, most importantly, your lap and loving touch?

Celebrate a senior, and love them always, this November.
