Early voting is underway in California and many other states for the Nov. 3 midterm election.

The election will decide the balance of power in Congress. In California, voters will also select the next governor and other statewide officeholders. State propositions and local measures are also in play.

Hearst Television’s Get the Facts Data Team is tracking early and mail-in ballots, with data that comes from the University of Florida Election Lab.

The election lab has tracked early voting data since 2008 and also aggregates turnout and results data. Early voting counts are compiled directly from state and regional sources.

See the graphic below for more information on the early vote in California and across the nation. The graphic also shows the early vote as a share of the 2022 turnout.

In California, Political Data Inc. also tracks the early vote.
