A 42-year-old man was arrested Friday afternoon after barricading himself inside a Fresno home and setting a trailer on fire, authorities said.
Officers initially responded to a medical aid call near Princeton and Fowler avenues.
When they arrived, they learned the woman who called 911 had been a victim of domestic violence involving the man the night before.
According to police, the two got into an argument Thursday night, during which the man allegedly punched the woman, pulled out a knife and threatened to kill her.
Police said the woman used the medical aid call to get law enforcement to the location.
When officers arrived, the man barricaded himself inside the trailer, police said. He later set the trailer on fire before fleeing into a nearby home.
Officers called in negotiators and additional units to persuade the man to surrender. Fresno Fire personnel also responded, but the fire went out on its own, authorities said.
Police deployed a drone inside the home but were unable to locate the man. Officers eventually entered the residence and found him in a bathroom, where they deployed a police K-9.
The man sustained minor injuries and was taken into custody. The trailer caught fire again after his arrest but was extinguished, police said.
The man is expected to be booked on multiple charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, false imprisonment, arson and felony domestic violence. He was already on parole for arson.
The woman is expected to be all right.
