Woman dies, child injured in pedestrian crash in Sacramento

A woman died and a 4-year-old child was injured after they were struck by a vehicle Sunday afternoon, according to the Sacramento Police Department.

Officers responded around 3:15 p.m. to the 500 block of Las Palmas Avenue for a reported vehicle collision involving a pedestrian.

When they arrived, they found an adult woman and a juvenile at the scene.  The child was taken to a hospital with minor injuries, and the woman was taken to a hospital with major injuries. Despite lifesaving efforts, the woman was later pronounced dead.

The driver and vehicle remained at the scene. The incident remains under investigation.
