BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — The Kern County Coroner’s Office identified a man who was struck by a vehicle in south Bakersfield and later died.

The man was identified as Robert Henry, 79, of Bakersfield. Henry was struck by a vehicle in the intersection of Brundage Lane and South P Street on Oct. 9 at about 10:18 p.m.

Henry was taken to Kern Medical where he later died.

The collision was reported in the area of the 900 block of Brundage Lane. The Bakersfield Police Department said a man, later identified as Henry, was crossing the street in a crosswalk at South P Street, but against a red light.

The driver — identified by police as Patience Ervin, 29 — was heading westbound on Brundage Lane when the collision happened.

Speed or impairment were not factors in the crash, police said in a statement.

Ervin was located and taken into custody about 30 minutes after the incident, officials told 17 News. Ervin pleaded not guilty to charges.
