Streets flooded in Newport Beach near the Balboa Peninsula again as the high tide peaked on Tuesday morning.

Eyewitness News reporter Bianca Buono was on Lido Park Drive near Lafayette Road on Tuesday morning, where water flooded the roadway.

The Newport Beach utilities department was working to pump out the water and clean up while the water began to recede on its own after high tide ended.

ABC7 spotted residential buildings nearby that were surrounded by sandbags.

On 8th Street by Newport Harbor Yacht Club, the boat yard was flooded, as well as the surrounding streets, but it appeared water did not get inside the building.

While the area around the Balboa Fun Zone saw significant flooding on Monday, there was only minor flooding during Tuesday’s high tide, likely because the city brought several extra pieces of equipment to the area to pump out the water much faster.

“I’ve been here off and on since I was a child. The ocean and the bay met in about 1983, but other than that, this is the worst I’ve ever seen,” said Newport Beach resident Pam Bacich. “We’ve certainly never seen tides up this high.”

A Coastal Flood Warning remains in effect through Thursday afternoon.
