BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A Wasco man was arrested Saturday on suspicion of driving under the influence after being involved in a crash in Los Angeles County that killed another driver, according to the California Highway Patrol.

On Nov. 8 at around 11:10 p.m., officers with the California Highway Patrol Newhall Area Office responded to a report of a multiple-vehicle crash on northbound I-5, north of Templin Highway, according to officials.

The driver of a white Jeep Cherokee — a 61-year-old man — was ejected from his vehicle and suffered fatal injuries, according to CHP.

Martin Enrique Cazares, 21, of Wasco was the driver of a silver Toyota Camry who officers found at the scene. Cazares was arrested after investigators determined he was at fault for the crash and was driving under the influence, officials said.

Cazares was booked into the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Station in Santa Clarita on suspicion of felony DUI and vehicular manslaughter, according to investigators.

Cazares has no documented criminal history in Kern County, court records show.

The cause of the crash is still under investigation, CHP said. Anyone with information about the crash is encouraged to contact the CHP Newhall Area Office at 661-600-1600.
