The Porterville area had a standout athlete sign to play at the next level on National Signing Day on Wednesday as Ryleigh Schoonover signed with the Fresno State women’s basketball team in the class of 2026. Schoonover spent her first two years at Porterville High School where she was a three-sport standout in volleyball, basketball and track. Schoonover played her junior year last season at Clovis West and is entering her senior year at the school. Schoonover had already eclipsed 1,000 points for her career by the end of her sophomore year at PHS. The 6-0 Schoonover has surpassed 850 rebounds for her career. She’s played for two teams that have reached the Central Section finals and helped lead Clovis West the Central Section Championship and the State Final Four in 2025. During the 2024-2025 season for Clovis West, Schoonover averaged 16.9 points, 14.1 rebounds, 2.3 steals and 1.8 blocks per game.
