BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KGET) — A 29-year-old man was arrested and authorities say stolen vehicles were recovered and multiple firearms, ammo and drugs were seized from his Bakersfield home.
The California Highway Patrol said investigators from its Kern County Auto Theft Task Force arrested the man, identified as Javier Leyva-Ruelas, after a search of his home in the 700 block of Requa Court in east Bakersfield.
Officials said the task force conducted the operation Nov. 10.
According to CHP, task force officers were looking into a reported stolen vehicle and contacted Leyva-Ruelas outside his home. Investigators determined Leyva-Ruelas was involved in the vehicle theft and got a search warrant for his home.
Officers searched the home and found six stolen vehicles and a small arsenal of weapons, including three unserialized AR-15-style rifles, seven unserialized 9mm semi-automatic pistols and an unregistered 9mm semi-automatic pistol, CHP said in a statement.
Multiple high-capacity magazines, thousands of rounds of ammunition and about 100 pounds of methamphetamine were found in the home, according to CHP.
