Re “Plastic in your green bin? Batteries in the trash? City inspectors are checking San Diegans’ garbage for compliance” (Nov. 11): Are there any people in our city govenment using their heads? Does anyone really think this is a worthwhile use of resources?

If someone throws a battery on the top of the trash, it may be found, but otherwise the likelihood of finding anything in the trash is next to zero. Are the inspectors going to dump out all the trash to find batteries or plastic or other forbidden items? Where is the common sense?
