Schussing through Huntington Beach while sporting a shiny parka, a snuggly knit cap, and nylon pants that are so thick they can easily thwart the juiciest snowflakes?

That’s not going to happen, due in large part to the lack of snowy ski runs around the region. But here is some sweet news: We can, in fact, summon our inner skier while calling upon the sunny spot.

Or at least our inner ski lodge lounger, the sort of stylish reveler who delights in a cocktail, some cool tunes, and the perfect cable knit sweater.

Point your poles in the direction of the Kimpton Shorebreak and the Pier Summit Ski Lodge, a seasonal pop-up that has throwback style and sips created for grown-up winter lovers.

You’ll need to be 21 or older to visit, for starters, and wearing mittens or a scarf? Not necessary, but you may want to cute-up and get into the chilly vibe.

The beverages include the Big Foot, which features Old Forester bourbon and a syrup with pumpkin-y panache, and the Hot Toddy Time Machine, which is a classic toddy with a clove kick.

There’s a Shot Ski, too, if you and your pals are eager to try this mountain tavern tradition; two or four people may join the lift-a-ski-and-sip moment, if you’re feeling it.

The food side of the menu features fondue, because fondue and ski lodges go together like fireplaces and intimate conversations, and an Alpine Apple Streusel.

Be sure to schuss by the Pier Summit Ski Lodge before it melts, like a frosty flake, at the end of the December; the menu and details can be found on this page.
