SACRAMENTO, Calif. — The Idaho Vandals (4-6, 2-4) hit the road for the final time this season to meet the Sacramento State Hornets (6-4, 4-2) on Saturday. Kickoff is set for 6 p.m. PT, and you can watch it on ESPN+.

This meeting will mark the last between Idaho and Sacramento State as conference foes, as the Hornets are set to depart the conference starting in 2026. This will be the sixth all-time meeting between the teams since 1989, with the Vandals holding a 3-2 overall record and a 0-1 record at Hornet Stadium.

Idaho heads to California off a 28-14 loss to No. 9 UC Davis, where quarterback Joshua Wood completed 20 passes for a career-high 297 yards and two touchdowns with one interception.

Sacramento State, which received 11 votes in the latest Stats Perform Top 25 poll, is coming off a 52-24 win over Portland State, a team Idaho beat by 39 points earlier this season.

In the Big Sky standings, Sac State sits in fourth place with a 4-2 conference mark, while Idaho is eighth with a 2-4 record in league play.

The Hornets have the edge in scoring offense, averaging 35.5 points per game, good enough for third in the Big Sky, while Idaho’s offense ranks seventh, putting up 26.6 points per game.

On the defensive end, however, the Vandals have the upper hand, ranking third in the league and holding opponents to 25.7 points, while Sac State gives up 26.4 per game.

Sacramento State gets most of its work done on the ground, leading the league with 254.3 rushing yards per game while averaging just 176.3 yards through the air. Idaho will look to slow down running back Rodney Hammond Jr., who has 11 touchdowns this year.

Idaho has also found success on the ground as of late, with running back Elisha Cummings rushing for 223 yards and two touchdowns in the last three games, totaling 437 all-purpose yards in that same span.

The Vandals will look to spoil the Hornets’ senior night on Saturday, with kickoff set for 6 p.m.
