Showers will be winding down across Los Angeles and Southern California after record rains brought raised the risks of floods and mudslides, especially in areas scorched by recent wildfires.

Downtown Los Angeles received 1.65 inches (4 centimeters) Saturday, a record for the date, or more than the city usually gets between July 1 and November, according to the National Weather Service. In addition, Santa Barbara got 2.9 inches and Burbank 1.7 inches, which were also highs for November 15, the National Weather Service said. Across the wider region 4 to 8 inches fell in the last two or three days, said Allison Santorelli, a forecaster with the US Weather Prediction Center.
