SACRAMENTO, Calif. — A man suffered serious injuries during a suspected hate crime earlier this month in Sacramento, and another man was subsequently arrested, authorities said.
Officers found a man hurt just after 1:30 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 1 along the 2000 block of K Street after responding for multiple reports of an assault, according to the Sacramento Police Department.
He was taken to the hospital for serious injuries, police said.
Officers said while on scene they located a suspect in the area, later identifying that person as Sean Payton, 24, of Sacramento. He was arrested and accused of a hate crime, assault and resisting arrest, per law enforcement.
“Payton was booked into Sacramento County Main Jail where officers also requested for a bail enhancement,” police wrote Saturday in a message to ABC10.
