San Jose Sharks head coach Ryan Warsofsky gave an update on two injured forwards after practice on Monday.

Jeff Skinner suffered a nasty-looking lower-body injury against the Calgary Flames on Oct. 13, but appears to have avoided a worst-case scenario.

“It’s not horrible news. It’s gonna be week-to-week. I think we dodged a bullet,” Warsofsky said. “It will be about two weeks or so.”

Skinner has provided solid veteran depth to a young San Jose Sharks team. Through 17 games, the winger has four goals and three assists. He was scratched earlier in the year, but the Sharks have liked how he has responded to the change.

Warsofsky also gave an update on the Sharks’ 2025 No. 2 overall pick, Michael Misa.

“Misa is further away than [Skinner] is,” Warsofsky said. “This obviously gives opportunity for some guys. [Zack] Ostapchuk has come up here. We’ve seen [Ethan] Cardwell, so there’s opportunity there. That’s what happens when someone goes down.”

Skinner out week-to-week, about two weeks.

Warsofsky clarified that Misa hasn’t suffered any setbacks from his lower-body injury sustained during the morning skate on Nov. 5.

“No setback. Just a different injury [than Skinner],” Warsofsky said.
