A California Lottery player who purchased a scratcher ticket at a Los Angeles liquor store is $1 million richer.
According to a release from the California Lottery, Jeong Hwa Seo won the $1 million jackpot playing a Triple Red 777 Scratchers game that was purchased earlier this year at Lee’s Liquor at 1800 W. 6th Street in the Westlake District.
When the ticket was purchased was not immediately disclosed, just that it happened somewhat recently. California Lottery rules require the disclosure of a person’s name and where they purchased the ticket, but most other information can be released at the discretion of each winner.
Up in Northern California wine country, a recent lotto winner was more than happy to share their story.
Edy Giron Ruiz talked to the California Lottery about his recent jackpot win, which happened on Valentine’s Day. Ruiz purchased a Maximum Million Scratchers ticket from a 76 Station in Sebastopol in Sonoma County and was shocked to discover he’d won $5 million.
“I was with my brothers and we all celebrated together,” Ruiz told Lottery officials. Thanks to that big win, Ruiz said he plans to visit family for the first time in years, and he’s excited to reconnect with loved ones.
In addition to lotto scratcher games, the California Lottery is promoting other national drawings, including the Powerball’s estimated $570 million jackpot. The Mega Millions jackpot was won over the weekend after reaching $983 million.
