After a weekend of showers, two more storms will drench Southern California this week.

After last weekend’s torrential downpours, two more storms will hit Southern California this week.

The rain will take a brief break before another storm system moves into the region on Monday, bringing another round of showers with it.

Light and scattered showers are expected in the morning. Meteorologists anticipate moderate to heavy rainfall to arrive in the afternoon, spanning several hours. Drivers should take extra caution on the roads, which weather channels warn will be slippery.

As the storm hits, the rate of rainfall could reach up to half an inch per hour. As of Monday afternoon, no evacuation orders have been issued. However, residents are advised current by the County of Los Angeles to “remain alert for any rain & debris-related hazards as they travel through storm impacted areas”.

Los Angeles and Ventura counties are expected to receive the first wave of rain in the late afternoon. Around midnight, the storm is expected to move into the Inland Empire. The weather will taper out overnight, but showers may remain scattered into Tuesday morning.

By Wednesday, conditions should temporarily dry out before another storm moves in. By Thursday or Friday, a third storm system is anticipated to hit Southern California.

Last Saturday, an atmospheric river drenched areas across Los Angeles, Orange, Ventura, Riverside, and San Bernardino counties. In some low-lying or poor-drainage areas, the rainfall produced minor flooding and debris flow.

Some areas near burn scars received evacuation orders, but all orders were lifted by Saturday evening. According to the National Weather service, a range of 2-5 inches of rain accumulated in across regions in just two days.
