FRESNO, Calif. (KSEE/KGPE) – The driver of a Jeep who went down a steep embankment, in heavy rain, overturned and then struck a power pole in northwest Fresno is recovering in the hospital following the crash, according to the Fresno Fire Department.
Fire officials say around 8 p.m. Sunday, firefighters were called to a Jeep that had rolled over down the embankment near Milburn Avenue and the Bluffs.

When crews arrived, they found the driver of the white Jeep had gone off the roadway. Fire crews say they found the driver was pinned inside the vehicle and needed to be rescued.
Firefighters say they had to use the Jaws of Life to get the driver out.
Rescue officials say the rescue efforts were made more difficult by rain, slippery terrain, and muddy conditions.
The driver was transported to the hospital with moderate injuries.
