SAN DIEGO (FOX 5/KUSI) — As Southern California braces for another storm to hit the region Monday evening, the National Weather Service is warning people to be careful when operating marine vessels in coastal waters.
A small craft advisory is in effect from 4 p.m. on Monday through 2 a.m. on Tuesday due to hazardous conditions in coastal waters near San Diego County.

The advisory is in effect in waters from San Mateo Point down to the U.S.-Mexico border and out to 10 nautical miles, including San Clemente Island.

According to NWS, a distinct wind shift will move through the waters between 4 p.m. and 10 p.m. Monday, with strong, westerly winds.
Inexperienced mariners, especially those in small vessels, are advised to stay out of the water during the time of the advisory.
