One of the Downriver area’s top high school softball players from the Class of 2026 finalized her college decision on Monday when Allen Park High School’s Mallory Hool penned her national letter of intent to play at Oakland University next school year.

A former all-News-Herald honoree in both 2024 and 2025, Hool last season was named first-team all-area after hitting over .600 on the season with 30 extra-base hits and over 50 runs batted in. In three years at Allen Park, she has hit .468 with an OPS just a tick over 1.300 and over 40 percent of her 159 base hits going for extra bases.

A multi-sport standout at Allen Park, Hool has also twice been named all-area in girls basketball. That includes first-team honors a year ago when she helped lead the Jags to 18 wins and their first district title in seven years.

With her signing, Mallory becomes the fourth Hool sister to sign on to play college softball. She joins Allen Park Class of 2022 graduate Madison Hool as well as 2023 grads and twins Molly and Mia Hool, all of whom currently play at Wayne State University.
