According to San Diego police, there were two incidents with people in a vehicle firing BB gun-type pellets over the weekend, in Bankers Hill and Hillcrest.
At least two females suffered minor injuries in one of the incidents near the SRO Lounge, an LGBTQ bar on Fifth Avenue, in Bankers Hill.
On Tuesday afternoon, the SRO Lounge was open and many patrons that NBC7 spoke to were aware of the incident. An employee said the bar had been open since the incident while police investigated what occurred.
The second shooting happened in front of Flicks, a bar in Hillcrest. No one was injured.
An owner of another bar in Hillcrest confirmed to NBC 7 that it was egged around the same time but did not report it to police.
The LGBTQ community has been targeted before. In the last couple years, there have been several pellet gun attacks in Hillcrest that injured people.
SDPD is not investigating Saturday’s incidents as hate crimes or connecting them to any of 2024 crimes.
Tuesday, detectives were seen checking surveillance camera video at several businesses around the SRO Lounge.
