One of the most anticipated movies of the year arrives this weekend, Wicked: For Good. It is the second half of last year’s Wicked, which took the Broadway musical into a major motion picture, but turned it into two parts. Was that a wise decision? Movie reviewer, YouTuber, and Rotten Tomatoes critic Sean Chandler from Sean Chandler Talks About joined morning anchor Aaron Perlman on Eyewitness News Mornings to talk about the film.
Sean says the movie doesn’t work well as sequel. It is too jam packed at the end trying to fit in The Wizard Of Oz and the second half of the rest of Wicked. Plus, the music is not as compelling. The best and memorable songs were in the first movie.
However, Sean is a huge fan of Cynthia Erivo’s Elphaba and Ariana Grande’s Glinda. Great emotional takes on those characters and their story.
Sean also briefly talks about the counter-programming film hitting theaters, SISU: Road To Revenge. If Wicked was made for the female crowd, SISU was made for the men wanting a war, action adventure.
