Two cars struck and killed a woman early Wednesday on a San Carlos-area thoroughfare, authorities reported.
The incident occurred shortly after 4:30 a.m. Wednesday in the 7500 block of Mission Gorge Road, near Princess View Drive, according to the San Diego Police Department.
Police said a 2021 Honda CRV driven by a 47-year-old man was headed south when he hit the 38-year-old woman mid-block. According to investigators, the Honda driver only saw the woman at the last moment.
After being hit, the woman ended up on the ground near where she was hit. While she was on the ground, she was struck by a second car, this time by a 2022 Tesla Model Y driven by a 66-year-old man, who drove over her.
The victim, whose identity was not immediately available, died at the scene of the accident, police said.
